Summer is Here but Learning Doesn’t Take a Vacation
Everywhere I turn, Buddhist philosophy and teachings are calling me. Through books I’m reading, podcasts I’m listening to, and the heroes I encounter. My trip to Upaya Zen Center in Santa Fe in April opened my eyes to the vastness of the learning to be explored.
I’m also aware of how much Buddhism has impacted my coaching practice, even though I wasn’t fully aware of the explicit connections. For instance, I emphasize the concept of equanimity with clients who struggle to control their emotions (see my blog post about how to have a good day below). And when clients and I talk about active listening skills, we are really digging into the concepts of attuning and coregulating with another person, even if we don’t use that language.
I hope you find these resources valuable and I’m excited to be on a journey to integrate Buddhist philosophy even more explicitly into my work and my life overall.
